Government launches the Social Housing Quality Resident Panel

Latest news

The Government is calling for social housing tenants to apply to join its newly launched Social Housing Quality Resident Panel. The deadline for applications is Friday 29 April 2022.

Social housing tenants up and down the country are being invited to apply to join the Government's newly launched Social Housing Quality Resident Panel. As part of its work to improve drive up the quality of social housing, the Government wants up to 250 social housing tenants to review the measures in place around the Decent Homes Standard, as well as making sure tenants know how to make complaints and that they have confidence in the system.

The Resident Panel will also be tasked with reviewing training and qualifications for social housing staff, as well as considering a new access to information scheme about landlords.

The deadlines for applications is Friday 29 April and the application form is here.

Running alongside the Resident Panel activity will be a national survey to approximately 5,000 residents for their views on their landlord’s service. You can read more about the Government’s plan for the Resident Panel here

Progress Housing Group is supporting the call for applications – we’re encouraging all of our tenants to apply, as well as taking part in the upcoming national survey.  It’s every tenant’s right to live in good-quality homes in their communities, and to feel safe and secure. They should be able to find out how their landlord is performing, deserve to be treated with respect and have their voice heard. What’s more, if tenants feel their landlord does not meet these requests, they should be able to make a complaint promptly and fairly.
