Annear Place opening event

Latest news

We’re excited as the grand opening event approaches on 20 October! Find out why we decided to name the scheme ‘Annear Place’

The name Annear Place is in memory of Andrea and Paul Annear, who were one of the first couples with learning disabilities to get married in the UK back in September 2004.

The then director of Ormerod Trust, Sue Sharples, helped them to fulfil their dream. In our film, Sue pays tribute to the Annears, sharing her memories and talking about the challenges they faced. Watch it here:

About Annear Place

Annear Place in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, is RWP’s brand new supported living scheme to provide short-stay accommodation for 12 people with a learning disability or autism.

The scheme comprises fully adapted shared and self-contained accommodation over two floors, with communal areas. With the finishing touches in place, there is a great sense of excitement for the RWP Development Team.

Councillor Matt Barney, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Public Health at Nottinghamshire County Council, said: “This fantastic new supported living service will enable us to provide short-term support for up to 12 people at a time, helping them to develop the skills they need to live more independently and eventually move on to longer-term accommodation.

“It has proved more difficult to develop schemes such as this in the south of the county because of the lack of suitable sites and the higher cost of land, so I am delighted that Annear Place is now complete, and I want to pay tribute to Reside with Progress for their determination in getting the project over the finishing line.”
