Celebrating Black History Month

We were delighted to join our tenants at their Black History Month celebration last week. They live in one of our supported living schemes in Leicester, supported by staff from CIC. 

The theme this year of Black History Month is Saluting our Sisters, recognising the achievements of black women. A special display showed photos people who have had a big social impact and made sure black voices have been heard throughout history.

Special guests at the event told us about the Windrush generation and their personal connections, read the famous poem about Rosa Parks and held a community prayer. As everyone tucked into a delicious Caribbean lunch, we listened to a professional musician performing reggae hits.
