Love is in the air!

Latest news

Charlotte and Nathan are a couple and live in one of our supported living schemes in Fleetwood. They knew each other well before their relationship blossomed. “We got to know each other and were friends first,” says Nathan.

How Charlotte and Nathan first met

Charlotte and Nathan crossed paths for the first time at a local pub five years ago. They were both out at the pub with friends which led to them talking for the first time and a friendship developed before they became a couple. Nathan says: “When I first met Charlotte, I thought she's nice and attractive and we both like similar things. She’s the one for me.” Charlotte commented, “I was the same. We like doing similar things, like going out.”

The first date

Charlotte and Nathan were enjoying a day out in Blackpool with friends when Nathan first asked Charlotte out on a date. “We tended to meet friends for a few drinks and a meal and then that's when I had the courage to ask her out,” says Nathan. Of course, Charlotte said yes to a date and the rest is history!

Spending quality time together

Charlotte and Nathan both share a big passion for football. “I’m a Manchester United supporter,” says Nathan. They also both support local team, Fleetwood Town. “We’re season ticket holders and go to home games every other Saturday together.” They really enjoy attending the home games, and Nathan says, “myself, Charlotte and her dad will sit together, just behind the dugout. So, we get a perfect view.”

Charlotte and Nathan also enjoy going out and spending time with friends. However, they both agree that “nights in together” are the best.

Shared love for animals

Charlotte and Nathan both share a huge love for animals, and they both have pets of their own. Nathan has a cat that lives with him at home. “His name is Jasper, I adopted him about five years ago. He is a typical tomcat.” He also adds that pets have a positive impact on his wellbeing. “Having a pet helps my mental health.” Charlotte has a fish that she keeps at home: “I have a sucker fish and this one has been around for a long time.”

Shared love for volunteering

Charlotte and Nathan both share a big passion for volunteering and helping in their local communities with different charities and projects. Nathan says: “I work with a charity called Street Angels. I have worked with them for the last four years on a Saturday night, once a week. We make sure that people are safe around Blackpool.” This includes handing out essential items. “We give out things like flip flops, water, first aid kits,” says Nathan, “And we have a welfare van so people can come for advice.”

Charlotte volunteers for the Fleetwood in project which helps to improve local environments and streets. Charlotte says: “I do Fleetwood in Bloom with my mum, helping to make the local alley safe, friendly, clean, and tidy. We also pick up litter around Fleetwood; we will go around and pick up a load. It's all voluntary.”

Valentine’s day plans

In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, Charlotte will be making decorative hearts. The support team from Ubu health and social care will be running this activity for the tenants at Charlotte and Nathan’s supported living scheme.

On the day, Charlotte and Nathan are planning to go to a local restaurant. “We’re going to have a nice meal together!”
