Volunteering for Ukraine

We love to hear stories about volunteering, especially when it’s our tenants who are getting involved. Read on about John, one of our LiLAC supported living tenants.

In November last year, our tenant John travelled with a group of people from his church to help the relief effort on the border of Poland and Ukraine.

John was based at a railway station in a town called Przemysl for three weeks, helping people arriving by train from Ukraine by carrying their luggage and giving them directions.

In between his volunteering shifts, on his days off, John took the opportunity to explore the local Polish towns -  he even found time to visit an old World War II bunker for a fascinating slice of history.

John took his camera along with him to Poland and made a film of his experiences on the trip. He hopes that his film will be able to give information to other volunteers about the experience, and show them what it’s like before they visit.
