Background and experience

Gavin’s experience is drawn from his career as a CIPFA-qualified Finance Director.

Gavin also served as a Non-Executive Director on companies delivering water and wastewater services to customers. Gavin’s approach is to challenge and support colleagues so that a balance is maintained between service delivery, environmental compliance, investment for the future and stakeholder expectations whilst not compromising on health and safety or fairness.

Gavin is proud to have served for over ten years as a Trustee Board member of Bradford and Airedale Citizens Advice Bureau and previously a school governor and work mentor. This experience has provided Gavin with a good understanding of the challenges and benefits of providing appropriate services to a diverse and changing community.

Gavin’s skills include strategic thinking, corporate governance, risk management, financial management, business development and communication.

Personal interests

Gavin enjoys getting out and about in his native Yorkshire countryside and wider afield and is happiest whenever this can be combined with his family and interests in cooking, gardening and cycling.
